So, here it is. My blog. I am going out on a limb, or more appropriately, stepping out of the boat here! This blog is an attempt to unite two seemingly different things: Music and Fly Fishing. Both are different, and both are unique. They are both intense and peaceful, and both are renewing and recharging.
I remember as a kid having internal conflicts when I would get a new stuffed animal. When I started playing with the new toy, I would feel guilty leaving the old favorite behind, and would worry that this new "friend" would replace the old one. My mom used to say to me, "Harry, you can like both, its OK". Sometimes I find myself still thinking this way.
Music is my first passion, and it is my job. I've been playing guitar for about 14 years now, and when I do music, I feel like I am fulfilling a big part of God's plan for my life. Fly fishing is another passion, and it is more than a hobby and when in balance, a little less than an obsession! Fly fishing has saved my life in many ways and has also increased the chances of me losing it! What do I do? Which do I pick?

The more I do both, the more I realize that both can coexist together, and the secret is balance. This balance is deeper than those gold scales we see on the Department of Justice's logo or at coffee shops in Nashville; this balance has to be rooted in actively choosing God's priorities for my life. God has called me to music. It's a way to worship Him and an amazing avenue to share the Gospel, the true reason why I'm here. God has also given me fly fishing. Its the perfect way to see His beauty and to interact with a piece of His creation that otherwise would be unreachable. He has also taught me deep life lessons through catching trout, especially.
So, where do I go from here? Which one do I choose? Well, both, in balance. This is the point of this blog, to balance both and to share the joys, the struggles, the practical and spiritual lessons, and the passion of both music and fly fishing. Thank you for taking time to read this, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy writing it!
